Microcement application in Dubai — seamless floors, walls, bathrooms, kitchens and feature surfaces in custom colours and textures, applied over existing tiles with a protective waterproof seal.
Artirior applies microcement to floors, walls, wet rooms, kitchens, stairs and feature surfaces in villas, apartments and commercial spaces across Dubai. Microcement is a thin, polymer-modified cement coating, usually 2 to 3 mm, that gives a continuous surface with no grout lines and can be applied over existing tiles in many cases. This page explains where it works, where it does not, how it is applied, what affects the price and how to look after it. If you prefer natural stone, see our marble installation page.
Microcement is a cement-based coating combined with polymers and applied by trowel in thin layers. Once sealed, it gives a smooth, continuous, hard-wearing surface that looks like polished concrete or soft plaster. Because it is thin, it can often go straight over existing tile, plaster, concrete screed, and some board substrates, after preparation.
It suits living areas, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, showers, staircases, feature walls and outdoor terraces. It is popular in villa renovations where the owner wants to keep the layout and update the finish without breaking out floors.
The result depends on preparation. We clean and repair the surface, fill and treat cracks and tile joints, and apply a bonding primer. Over tiles and in areas prone to movement we embed a fibreglass mesh in the base coat. Two thin finishing coats in your chosen colour follow, then a light sand and two or more coats of protective sealer. Wet areas receive a waterproofing system and a sealer designed for constant water contact.
We make and approve a sample board before starting, because colour and texture depend on the mix, the trowel technique and the sealer. The sample is your reference for the finished surface.
Microcement is hard-wearing, but it is a thin coating, not a slab. A surface that moves, such as a floor with a structural joint or a poorly bonded old tile, can show a hairline crack in the same place later. We treat joints, use mesh where it is needed and tell you before we start if a surface is unsuitable. Heavy impact can chip it, and harsh cleaners can damage the sealer. If you want a floor that will take any abuse without maintenance, stone or porcelain may suit you better.
Microcement is quoted per square metre, but the rate changes with the job. These are the main factors:
A finished surface can usually take light foot traffic within a couple of days. The sealer needs longer to reach full hardness, so we tell you when furniture, heavy traffic and water exposure are safe. After that, clean with a pH-neutral cleaner and a soft mop, avoid abrasive pads, and use felt pads under furniture. The sealer can be refreshed every few years, depending on use, to keep the surface protected.

Experience excellence with our proven approach and dedicated expertise
Continuous surface, no grout lines to stain or collect dirt
Often applied over existing tiles, which reduces demolition, dust and time
Thin build of about 2 to 3 mm, so door heights and levels barely change
Custom colour and texture, matched to a sample you approve first
We manage the complete end-to-end NOC and approval process with Dubai authorities to ensure your project is 100% compliant.
Apartments and villa communities set working hours and contractor access. We obtain the permit and plan work around them.
Showers, wet rooms and terraces get a suitable waterproofing system and sealer before the final finish.
When microcement is part of a larger renovation, it is scheduled after plastering and wet trades and before final painting and joinery installation.
Also serving Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman.
It is quoted per square metre and depends on the surface, the preparation, the system and the area. After a free site visit we give you an itemised quote.
Often yes, if the tiles are firmly bonded and level. We fill the joints, prime and use a reinforcing mesh. We check the tiles on site and tell you if they need to come up.
Microcement itself is not a waterproofing layer, but with the right waterproofing membrane and sealer it can be used in showers, wet rooms and outdoor areas. We specify the system for each area.
A single room often takes a few days, and a whole apartment or villa can take one to three weeks. Each coat needs drying time and the sealer needs time to cure.
It can show a hairline crack where the surface underneath moves, such as at structural joints. Good preparation and mesh reduce that risk, and we tell you about any high-risk areas before we start.
